11/6/2013 12:59:00 PM Swimming pool also offers jobs
Laurie Gargulak, Rice Lake
As a long-time swim mom, it was interesting to read the history of the pool in the Oct. 30 issue. The article missed the opportunity to mention the great employment opportunities at the pool for the young people of our community. Both of our daughters worked there as lifeguards and swimming lesson instructors-jobs that taught them responsibility, persistence, and patience. They also went on to use their swimming and lifeguarding skills after high school, working as lifeguards and teaching swimming lessons in college and beyond. Both of them swam with the Rice Lake Swim Club. The parent-run organization served close to 90 kids during many of the years our girls were involved and continues to be strong and successful. Our girls also swam through their entire high school career-both during physical education classes and on the varsity high school swim team. I hope people in our community will continue to support the operation of the swimming pool. It is an asset to our community in so many ways! Congratulations on 35 years! - - - -

I'd like to know if their are going to be life-guard training courses anytime within the next 4-5 months.
