Jeanette Diesterhaft-Stauner

Jeanette I. Diesterhaft-Stauner, 86, of Almena, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Cumberland Healthcare-ECU. She was born August 27, 1927 in Maple Grove, WI to Iver and Hannah (Johnson) Holmstrom.
Jeanette grew up in Barron County and attended school at Barron County Center in Prairie Farm.
Jeanette was married in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Almena, WI on August 4, 1944 to Alfred Diesterhaft. Of this union Melvin, Jerry, Donald, Anita and Marlene were born. She and Alfred farmed in Almena where she lived most of her life. Jeanette worked for several years for Hines Company in Cumberland until they closed. She also had an adult family care home and did interior
decorating.
On June 27, 1999, she pledged her life and love to Leo Stauner and they continued to farm in Almena until 2002 when they moved to the Village of Almena. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew
Lutheran Church.
Jeanette is survived by three sons, Melvin (Joan) Diesterhaft of
Cumberland, Jerry (Sandy) Diesterhaft of Cumberland and Donald (Tamela) Diesterhaft of Mondovi; one daughter, Marlene (Steve) Mathews of Cameron; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;one sister, Carol (Paul) Stauner of Almena; one half brother, Marvin (Pinky) Holmstrom of Minneapolis, MN; two half sisters, Darlene (Rodney) Peterson of Comstock and Sonja Holmstrom of Rice Lake; three stepchildren, Mary, Norman and Anita; and many lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Cecelia; first husband, Alfred on May 5, 1986; second husband, Leo on June 11, 2011; three brothers, Woodrow, Harding and Del; three sisters, Irene Slayton, Harriet Holmstrom and Lorraine McIntyre; one half brother, Iver Holmstrom; and one half sister, Betty White.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Almena, WI with Rev. Clinton Hoff officiating. Burial was in St. Matthew Cemetery, Almena, WI. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Brent Diesterhaft, Troy Diesterhaft, Travis Diesterhaft, Kyle Diesterhaft, Don Diesterhaft Jr. and Andy Mathews. Honorarypallbearerswere Adam Diesterhaft, Cary Diesterhaft and Sean Diesterhaft.
Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland served the family.
