Bettie Reigel

Elizabeth J. "Bettie" Reigel, age 80, of Rice Lake, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Rice Lake Convalescent Center. She was born on January 13, 1934 in Phillips, WI to Joseph and Anna (Filkas) Ondrejka.
Bettie grew up on the family farm near Phillips and attended Phillips High School, where she was active in 4H, choir and band.
After graduating in 1951, she attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Marshfield and received her nursing degree in 1954.
On October 1, 1959 she married Paul A. Reigel in Phillips. She then became an OB/GYN nurse in Marshfield and worked there until moving to Rice Lake in 1965. Bettie was employed for many years as a registered nurse in Rice Lake and spent the last 25 years of her career as an RN at Rice Lake Convalescent Center.
She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a tireless fundraiser for the sports programs at St. Joseph's School. She loved playing cards, Bingo and going to garage sales. She was a tremendous cook and baker.
Bettie is survived by four sons, Joseph (Martha) Reigel of Fort Worth, TX, Kenneth (Ann) Reigel of Bluff Dale, TX, Andrew Reigel of Osceola and Evan Reigel of Rice Lake; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anne Bloom of Phillips.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul, on June 9, 2009; four sisters, Hattie, Alma, Mary and Agnes; and two brothers, Frank and Joey.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake with Fr. James Powers officiating. Burial was in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial
Cemetery. Skinner Funeral Home of Rice Lake was serving the family.
