Norma Titherington

Norma Ann Quillen Titherington was called home to her maker on February 27, 2014. Norma was born to Carl and Hazel Hansen on January 22, 1923 in Doyle Township, WI.
Norma weighed 1½ pounds and the doctor said she wouldn't make it. Her grandmother, Mary Barton, wrapped her in cheese cloth and cod liver oil, placed her in a shoe box by the fireplace, and fed her pure cream with an eyedropper. She fought to live just as she did the last nine months of her life.
Norma married Chester Earl Quillen on January 21, 1942 in Alexandria, LA. Chester passed away in 1985. Together they operated Chet's Bar, Restaurant and Resort on Red Cedar Lake in Mikana, WI.
Norma married Gerald Titherington on October 14, 1987 in Jensen Beach, FL where she lived as a snowbird until her death. Gerald passed away in 2005. Norma was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Campia, WI.
Norma is survived by a daughter, Norma Jean (Tom) Jankowski and a son, Larry Lee (Carol) Quillen, all of Mikana, WI; four grandchildren, Cynthia Ann (Frank) Saxinger, Kevin Chester Klopp, Allison (Mitch) Cretors and Holly Quillen; four great-grandchildren, Evan Kurschner, Frank Joshua Saxinger, Jacob Saxinger and Hailee Cretors; her sisters, Betty Jean Moriarty and Arlene Carol Wyckoff; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Earl Quillen; and sisters, Marvel Nathon and Janet Richardson.
A celebration of Norma's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Campia, with interment to follow. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
