Eldon H. Johnson, 81, of Rice Lake, formerly of Cornell, WI passed away on October 1, 2013 in Rice Lake. Eldon was born in Cornell, WI to Harry and Hattie Johnson on March 8, 1932.
He grew up and attended school in Cornell. Eldon was married to Carol Dean Gourdoux from August 1953 until Carol Dean's death in 1988. On September 16, 1989, Eldon married Maxine (Hatfield) Wagner, who survives him.
Eldon worked as a meat cutter in Eau Claire, Ladysmith and at Markey's Market in Cornell. Eldon and his brother Rod operated Elrod's Bar from 1962 to 1966. He then worked as a logger and operated a trucking business until his retirement. In 2011, Eldon and Maxine moved to
Eldon enjoyed his hunting trips to Canada, deer hunting in Wisconsin and watching the Packers. But most of all, Eldon loved his casino trips with Maxine, and listening to William's piano playing and Laurel's singing.
Eldon is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carol Dean; sisters, Alvida (John) Reich and Melva (Eugene) Thielke.
Eldon is survived by wife, Maxine, Rice Lake; Maxine's children, Bruce (Ginger) Wagner, Philadelphia, PA, Mary (David) Krause, Eau Claire and Bill (Karen) Wagner, Rice Lake; brother, Rodney (Sue) Johnson, Cornell and sister Lorraine (Howard) Moe, Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, Wendy (Shaun) Hathaway, Fitchburg, WI and William and Laurel Wagner, Rice Lake; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Leiser-Borton Funeral Home in Cornell, Wisconsin, with Deacon Dennis Rivers officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Cornell Cememtery. Arrangements are by Leiser-Boirton Funeral Home.
