Scott Haffner

Scott D. Haffner, 54, of Clayton, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, surrounded by loved ones, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 12, 1958 in St. Cloud, MN to Delroy and Carol (Grabinski) Haffner and was raised in New Richmond.
After high school, and at the age of 17, Scott entered into the US Army. He married Roberta Bernd on November 26, 1976. They were stationed in Berlin, Germany, where they started their family. After his discharge, they returned to New Richmond where he worked for Doboy.
He reenlisted into the Air Force and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington then Reykjavik, Iceland. He was discharged from
South Carolina.
After his retirement from his service, they moved to Clayton. He and Roberta divorced in 2001. Scott was married at his home in Clayton, WI on June 5, 2005 to
Tammy Steinburg.
Scott was an avid outdoorsman,excellent welder and mechanic. He made sure to "Scottamize"
everything. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix! His sense of humor and
sarcastic wit were legendary. Scott enjoyed camping with his wife, family, friends and two dogs. He was a truly wonderful husband to Tammy; they made a great team. Scott was also a loving son, caring father and brother. Most of all, Scott loved
being "Papa."
He is survived by his wife, Tammy of Clayton; children, Bianca Haffner (Zachary Young) of Hudson, Tiffany (Jonathan) Oien of Red Wing, MN, Taylor Haffner (Andrea Gazdik) of Hudson, Michele (Barry) Ranallo of Cumberland and Troy Hyland of Baraboo; three grandchildren, Tanner Haffner, Jaxon Oien, Conner Ranallo and Isabella on the way; his mother, Carol of Amery; three brothers, Rodney (Julie) Haffner of New Richmond, Robin (Colleen) Haffner of New Richmond and Todd (Colleen) Haffner of Chatfield, MN; two sisters, Doris Mouchet of Phoenix, AZ and Jeannine (Tom) Brekke of Clayton; and many nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives.
Scott was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; and his nephew,
Joshua Schouten.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Turtle Lake, WI with Father Dennis Mullen officiating. Burial of cremains was in West Clayton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Taylor Haffner, Rodney Haffner, Robin Haffner, Todd Haffner, Barry Ranallo and
Ryan Stepan.
Skinner Funeral Home of Turtle Lake served the family.
