Robert Kolek

Robert Duane Kolek, 75, of Ladysmith, WI, died on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at his home. Bob was born on December 8, 1937 in the Town of Wilkinson in Rusk County, WI to Stanley and Hildred (Olson) Kolek, who preceded him in death.
Bob was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1961 to 1964, a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Bruce American Legion. He worked and retired from the Rusk County Highway Department. He also drove bus for Head-Start, built dog houses as a hobby and donated kindly to the Humane Society. He was a member of the Weyerhaeuser Methodist Church.
Bob married Carol Jean Behrndt on June 4, 1966 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Barron, WI. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2012. He is survived by 2 sons Kerry Kolek of Weyerhaeuser, WI and Karl and Jen Kolek of Menomonie, WI; 3 brothers Don and Sue Kolek of Ashland, WI, Ken and Marge Kolek of Marshfield, WI and Wayne and Bev Larson of White Bear Lake, MN; and one sister Joanne Locke of Weyerhaeuser, WI.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Weyerhaeuser Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in the Weyerhaeuser Cemetery with Military Burial Rites provided by the Weyerhaeuser VFW. Bob's family will receive friends at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Bruce, WI after 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 18 and again for an hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's name may be made to the Rusk County Humane Society in Ladysmith.
