Victoria J. "Vicky" Spalding, age 65, of Eau Claire, WI was peacefully called home to her heavenly Father, Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital surrounded by her family. Vicky Jean Dillon was born September 21, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Jim and Joan (Erhardt) Dillon.
She grew up on the north side of Chicago and graduated from Senn High School in 1966. Vicky was married to John Spalding on
June 22, 1968.
Over the years, they lived in Chicago, Wonder Lake, IL, Waupaca, Rice Lake and Eau Claire. Vicky spent much of her life working in the medical profession.
Her favorite pastimes were camping, baking, cooking and traveling but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had one daughter and two little brothers that she raised from the time they were nine and ten. Vicky was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Vicky is survived by her husband, John, of Eau Claire; daughter, Lisa Spalding of Eau Claire; brothers, Tom and Rich
(Rhonda) of Eau Claire, and Bob of Charlotte, NC; she is also survived by three grandchildren, Caitlin, Trevor and Michael. She loved that her daughter and grandchildren all lived at home with her. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives
Her parents, James and Joan Dillon; and her brother, James, preceded her in death.
The family would like to thank the 5th floor nursing staff at Sacred Heart Hospital as well as Fr Klimek, the Pastoral Care staff and Palliative Care staff for their care of Vicky. The kindness that they showed the family during this difficult time was very appreciated.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday June 14, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1812 Lynn Avenue, Altoona, WI 54720. Father Derek Sakowski will officiate. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire. There will be a visitation on Thursday evening at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday morning an hour prior to the service. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. to conclude the evening's visitation.
