UW-Barron County Associate Dean Tracy White is leaving the college to become the new CEO/dean at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County.
Aaron Brower, interim chancellor of the University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension, made the announcement Tuesday.
White has been an associate campus dean since 2010 and has twice served as interim CEO/dean of UW-Barron County. She joined UW-Barron County in 2002 as an associate lecturer in chemistry. She has been an associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences since 2009.
She will succeed Pleger, who has left to take a job as president of Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
"We conducted a national search and had an exceptionally strong group of finalists for this position," Brower said. "Tracy White emerged as the kind of dynamic, creative leader who is a good match for this campus at this time. She is the right leader to guide UW-Baraboo/Sauk County through future challenges and opportunities."
White will assume her new position on Aug. 1, 2014.
"This is an exciting time to take over the leadership at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County," White said. "I look forward to engaging the community and the campus to meet the new opportunities we will face in the future as we seek to better serve students, our community and the state of Wisconsin."
White earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Michigan State University and a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from Lawrence University in Appleton.
