Cameron picked up a win Friday night at Flambeau but was frozen out of its game Monday at Osceola in boys' basketball. The Comets, 6-2 overall and leading the Central Lakeland at 4-0, return to play this Thursday when they host conference foe Northwood (1-2, 4-3) in a 7:30 p.m. start. Thursday's game is a makeup from a postponement Dec. 3. No makeup date has been set for Monday's postponed game at Osceola. Cameron rolled over Flambeau 79-39 in nonconference play Friday at Tony. Four Comets were in double figures, and all 10 players who saw action scored. Cameron coach Troy LaVallie said his team had practiced well over the holiday break, and it showed on both ends of the court Friday. "Defensively we forced Flambeau into an up-tempo game and a lot of turnovers and bad shots," said LaVallie. "Offensively we moved the ball to find the open man." Sophomore Peyton Dibble led the Comets with 17 points, with nine of those coming on a trio of three-pointers. Junior Brett St. Aubin scored 12 points, and senior Alex Fredrickson and sophomore Max Verdegan added 11 each. Also for Cameron, junior Matt Schnider scored eight points, and juniors Joey Murphy and Garret Schleiss added six each. Cameron led 22-14 after one quarter and opened up a 37-19 lead by halftime. The Comets were up 57-31 going to the fourth quarter. For Flambeau (2-2 overall and 2-0 in the East Lakeland), Justice Groothousen scored 12 points and Patrick Dernovsek added 11. Following Thursday's home game, the Comets play a nonconference game at New Auburn on Monday night.
