Defending champion Wilber Lime of Galesville headlines the field of 10 teams for the 35th Rice Lake Invitational Men's Fastpitch Tournament this weekend. The tournament, held in conjunction with the city's Aquafest celebration, runs Friday through Sunday on the two fields at Tate Park. Wilber Lime has captured the tourney title a total of seven times. The Galesville squad plays its first game Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Five other Wisconsin squads and four from Minnesota complete the 2013 field. Wisconsin entries include the Rice Lake Orangemen, the only team to have played in all 34 previous events, along with the La Crosse Athletics, Saw Dust City of Eau Claire, Dugout Bar and Grill of Cushing, and the Gators of Farmington. PBI of West St. Paul, tournaments champs in 2002, 2003 and 2005, heads the list of Minnesota clubs that includes the Liberty Mutual Mudhens of West St. Paul, Tin Cup of St. Paul, and Ostrander. Play begins Friday at 8 p.m. on Curtis Field at Tate Park with the host team Orangemen facing Farmington. Play resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. on Curtis Field with Dugout meeting Tin Cup. At the same time on Steinert Field, Sawdust City and PBI square off. At 11:45 a.m. on Curtis Field the Orangemen-Farmington survivor matches up with the Mudhens. On Steinert Field at the same time, the La Crosse Athletics opposes Ostrander. At 1:30 p.m. on Curtis, Wilber Lime takes on the Dugout-Tin Cup winner. Play continues Saturday afternoon and evening and resumes Sunday at 9 a.m. The first championship game is Sunday at 2 p.m. on the Curtis diamond, with the second game, if necessary, to start at 3:30 p.m.
