Hungry Hollow event going strong in 45th year

The 45th annual Hungry Hollow event put on by the Steam and Gas Engine Club is Friday- Sunday, June 27-29 at the Hungry Hollow show grounds on Hwy. 25. This year the show features Prairie Gold Rush national summer show with Minneapolis-Moline tractors and machinery. There will also be the Jeep from John Wayne's movie, "The Fighting Seabees."
Gates open at 7 a.m. There is a pancake breakfast both days and a church service Sunday at 9 a.m.
Featured antiques in action include working steam and gas engines, threshing exhibits and antique tractors and classic cars. There will be antique fire truck rides.
Demonstrations include blacksmithing, wood sawing, corn shredding and shelling and the Model Airplane Club.
A tractor pull is Saturday at 4 p.m. with weigh-ins from 1-4 p.m. The pull features antiques and farm classes. Call 715-234-2618 for information and contest rules.
A garden tractor pull is Sunday at noon. There are vintage fire truck rides and model trains.
A parade of power is at noon on each day with lineups at 11:30 a.m. Flea markets, arts and crafts and refreshment booths are on the grounds.
A $7 donation at the gate is suggested; free for children under age 12.
